Intellectual and Industrial Property, and Data Protection

Intellectual property law encompasses the protection of creative works such as literature, music and artwork, as well as inventions and discoveries. This can include trademarks, patents and copyrights.

Industrial property law, on the other hand, pertains to the protection of industrial designs, trade names and geographical indications.

Services within intellectual and industrial property include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the registration of trademarks and patents.
  • Advising on copyright issues.
  • Helping to enforce your intellectual property rights through litigation.
  • Advising on licensing and commercialization of intellectual property.
  • Protecting against infringement and piracy.
  • Advising on trade secrets and confidential information.

Data protection regulation aims to protect the privacy and personal data of individuals. This includes laws that govern the collection, storage, use and dissemination of personal information in companies and organizations.

In Spain, the specific law that applies to data protection is the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD). This law implements the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Spain.
